What this treatment does

  • Covers an area you cannot reach to shave yourself
  • Ends the back acne that shaving and waxing often aggravate
  • Coarse, dense hair responds strongly to diode laser
  • Can be combined with chest and abdomen in the same visit

Back and shoulders covers the full back from the base of the neck to the waistline, plus the tops of the shoulders. It is the most requested treatment among our male clients, largely because it is the one area most people genuinely cannot manage themselves.

Male back hair is coarse and densely packed, which makes it highly responsive — but it is also more androgen-driven than most body hair, so courses run longer than they do for women. Expect 8 to 10 sessions rather than 6 to 8, and plan for occasional maintenance afterwards.

Many clients book back and chest together. Combining them in one appointment saves both time and money against booking separately.

Before your session

Have the area shaved 12–24 hours before. If you cannot reach it, ask us — we will shave it for you at the start of the appointment at no charge, though it adds ten minutes.

No waxing for four weeks. No sunbeds or self-tan during the course.

After your session

Redness and follicular bumps for up to a day are normal on dense areas like this. Wear a loose cotton shirt.

For 48 hours: no gym, sauna, steam room, hot tub, or swimming. Sweat on freshly treated follicles is the main cause of irritation and small breakouts. SPF 50 on shoulders for two weeks if they will see sun.

Questions about back & shoulders laser hair removal

Do men need more laser sessions than women?

For androgen-driven areas like the back, chest, and beard line, usually yes — 8 to 10 sessions rather than 6 to 8, plus more ongoing maintenance. Testosterone keeps stimulating these follicles throughout adult life, so the target keeps being replenished in a way it does not on, say, legs.

Will laser help with back acne?

Many clients find it does, indirectly. Shaving and waxing a back you cannot see reliably causes ingrown hairs and folliculitis that look and behave like acne. Removing the follicles removes that trigger. Laser is not a treatment for hormonal or cystic acne — see a physician for that.
